Core purpose of the role

The core purpose of the role is to manage all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, and dispatch of stock. The role also involves managing the Chep account, cycle counts, stock counts, reclassification, rework, and all associated reporting. Additionally, the role requires performance management of warehouse employees and ensuring that all warehouse KPIs are achieved.

Key deliverables and outputs
  1. Cost-effective operations management.
  2. Identify areas of non-conformance and enforce corrective actions.
  3. Complete daily dashboard reports for management.
  4. Manage stock in accordance with FIFO principles, reduce damages and stock losses, and minimize waste via the MDI process.
  5. Plan and manage stock counts and cycle counts, investigate variances, and issue reports, including weekly one-ton counts.
  6. Reconcile product transfers monthly with mills.
  7. Engage regularly with mills regarding their production plans.
  8. Process and reconcile Aladdin transactions.
  9. Manage and control all transactional processes in the relevant stock locations.
  10. Improve operational efficiencies related to vehicle loading/unloading, equipment, stock returns, and claims processing.
  11. Maintain housekeeping standards.
  12. Manage and maintain pallet control using the Chep system.
  13. Ensure smooth product flow to prevent bottlenecks in inbound and outbound logistics.
  14. Manage daily Smartcoms to communicate status, risks, and issues to colleagues and management.
  15. Participate in business planning activities.
  16. Contribute to Food Safety and Risk teams.
  17. Deliver consistent customer service according to requirements.
  18. Analyze data for problem solving and decision making.
  19. Manage time and attendance, including weekly/monthly overtime data.
  20. Oversee daily operations of the collection’s office and cycle count team.
Qualifications

B. Com degree or diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.

Note

Drivers license with own car.

Experience

At least 5 years’ experience in Warehouse Management. Experience in a unionized environment is required. Flexibility to work shifts as needed.

Advantageous

FMCG experience is beneficial.

Knowledge

Knowledge of SHEQ management to ensure compliance with ISO22000 and NOSA standards. Effective management of Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong IR background. Understanding of HACCP. Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

Skills

Sensitivity to diversity. Ability to operate independently. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in computer and system skills.
