Job Title: Life or Non-Life Actuarial Senior Manager

We are currently seeking a Life or Non-Life Actuarial Senior Manager to join our Actuarial practice in Johannesburg or Cape Town.

Our team comprises more than actuarial professionals across 5 locations in Africa – Johannesburg, Cape Town, Mauritius, Nairobi, and Lagos. We offer a great opportunity to gain exposure across various technical actuarial areas and to work with a range of insurers in the South African and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee Managers on complex, multi-faceted client projects
2. Manage large and complex actuarial audits on IFRS17 and SAM for life or non-life insurers
3. Drive the Head of Actuarial Function engagements for insurers and reinsurers
4. Deliver engagements on ERM frameworks, ORSA, Risk Appetite, or other risk topics
5. Lead value-adding projects related to IFRS17 implementation and emerging actuarial trends
6. Develop our team by coaching and mentoring junior colleagues
7. Share knowledge and continually learn within the wider actuarial team

Most work will be project-based, either for a specified period or recurring, allowing collaboration with diverse team members and subject matter experts to enhance your experience and technical knowledge.

Skills and Attributes for Success

• 7+ years' experience in the Life or Non-Life Insurance industry
• FASSA qualification, preferably with specialization in life or non-life
• Experience in financial reporting (SAM, Solvency II, IFRS17) and actuarial modelling
• Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders, including Board members
• Consulting experience is required
• Critical thinking and solution-oriented mindset
• Team player, proactive, and self-motivated
• Curious with a keenness to learn
• Global perspective on organizational responses to emerging risks
