Job Description

1. Log received samples into the SLIMS.
2. Print sample labels.
3. Ensure samples are sorted correctly before labeling and boxing.
4. Follow all quality directives of this Department.
5. Perform nickel sulphide leaches and/or other similar Wet Chemical techniques by accurately following the written procedures.
6. Bring all problems (technical and managerial) to the attention of the Chemist.
7. Adhere to all quality, health, and safety rules and regulations.
8. Ensure that the housekeeping in the receiving area as well as the micro-balance room is in order.
9. Comply and conform to Laboratory Quality Management System (ISO17025).
10. Record any day-to-day repairs, maintenance, calibration, and verification of instruments.
11. Work in other areas and/or Divisions if asked to do so.
12. Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
13. Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.

Qualifications

Education

1. National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
2. Grade 12, with Mathematics and Science

Experience

1. 3 years laboratory experience
2. Competent in logging of samples and working with CCLAS.
3. Able to perform various wet chemical techniques.
4. Experience in instrumentation, data collection, and reporting

Competencies

1. Full understanding of the LIMS system
2. Computer Literate (Microsoft Office).
3. Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Management System
4. Good communication and interpersonal skills
5. Works well under pressure
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
