Primary Responsibilities

1. Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
2. Maintain company standards for perishables and stay up to date on all active safety procedures
3. Ensure health and safety codes, check for pricing and expiration, and maintain an organized area
4. Check, record, and retain cooler / freezer temperatures and perform maintenance
5. Stay updated with health and safety standards and understand cleaning supplies, chemicals, and machines
6. Adjust product displays to ensure they are full, visually appealing, rotated, and seasonally appropriate
7. Prepare the backroom for merchandise receipt, check quality and code-date all items, and verify against invoices
8. Understand and communicate store policies, procedures, and equipment usage
9. Organize cooler / freezer areas, verify merchandise, inspect deliveries, and code-date all items
10. Calculate retail prices, perform price changes, and maintain PLU and scale systems
11. Manage damaged or unsalable products, including returns and markdowns
12. Report directly to the Produce Department Manager

Qualifications

• Basic Mathematics skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Experience with produce in a grocery setting preferred
• Lift, twist, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain signage and pricing
• Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations
• Work inside with transitions of heat, cold, humidity, and dust from various store areas
