Job description

What We Are Looking For
  • Plans and controls technical resources in support of process and product improvement to ensure cost reduction.
  • Implements innovative strategies and investigation techniques to support manufacturing operations efficiently and effectively.
  • Designs and establishes new processes translating user requirements into system/sub-system functions within the company's business processes.
  • Leads and participates in risk assessments, technical and quality investigations, process analysis (raw material to final product), technical troubleshooting, and rapid problem-solving.
  • Assists the Product Development Group during product or process development to ensure smooth industrialization of equipment.
  • Evaluates, specifies, and optimizes current operational systems for effectiveness.
  • Participates in technical meetings and reviews process-related documentation.
People Management and Development
  • Establishes interfaces between suppliers, operations, and clients to provide process specifications for process improvements.
  • Provides mentorship to plant personnel, aiding process simplification and developing technical skills in students for plant support.
Financial Management
  • Contributes to annual budgets and forecasts, controls costs, and manages overhead expenditure. Proposes capital expenditures.
  • Tracks progress on cost containment initiatives and reports regularly.
Compliance to Legislation and Business Systems
  • Ensures designs, projects, modifications, and installations comply with regulations within OHS Act and Explosive Act.
  • Adheres to Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and complies with ISO standards concerning SHE/Quality/Environmental aspects.
Qualifications
  • B-Tech / B-Eng. / B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Project Management qualification is advantageous.
  • Process Safety Management qualification and experience are advantageous.
  • Broad experience in development and manufacturing environments (Explosive / Engineering / Technical).
  • Deep knowledge of SHE/Quality Systems, project management tools, and process improvement techniques.
  • Proficiency with ERP / MES systems and excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced systems engineering training.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent, results-driven, and a team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical, strategic thinker with good judgment and proven problem-solving abilities on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Capable of working under pressure, adaptable, and a self-starter focused on standards and results.
  • Flexible, positive, with demonstrated financial acumen and ability to apply mathematical techniques to practical problems.
