Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the data science manager to establish and execute the team's technical vision, strategy, and goals.
2. Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, and mentor team members in AI, data science, machine learning, and related technologies.
3. Project Management: Manage resources and ensure efficient project execution aligned with business goals, continuously aligning delivery with company and engineering strategies.
4. Solution Delivery: Lead end-to-end development of AI solutions addressing challenges in telemetry, IoT, and engineering domains, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and integrate insights into operations, including coordinating with field experts on generative models for vehicle tracking and recovery.
6. Quality Assurance: Uphold high standards by implementing best practices in data preparation, model development, validation, and testing methodologies.
7. System Maintenance: Oversee maintenance and optimization of AI/DS products, ensuring system stability and addressing technical issues collaboratively with IT teams.
8. Knowledge Sharing: Promote a culture of knowledge transfer through documentation and mentorship, especially for junior members.
9. Engineering Integration: Drive integration of AI solutions into engineering environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security, and contribute to process improvements.
10. Development Tools: Ensure effective use of development toolsets and adherence to department standards.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

1. Education: BSc/BEng in Computer Science, Math, Stats, IT, or related fields; other STEM degrees with relevant experience are considered.
2. Experience: Minimum 4 years in AI/data science, with at least 1 year in leadership and 2 years as a senior data scientist.
3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, DataBricks, PySpark, Azure, SQL, PowerBI, GIS; experience with Linux, Java or C# is a plus.
4. Industry Experience: Success in leading AI solutions in telemetry, IoT, or engineering contexts; automotive industry experience is a plus.
5. Technologies: Familiarity with Agile, Git, big data tools, visualization, deployment, testing, documentation, and relevant mathematical techniques.
