Job Title : Procurement Buyer

Job Context

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Procurement Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services essential to our daily operations. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of materials, components, and services needed for railway operations and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply and favorable terms.
  • Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including creating and issuing purchase orders, negotiating terms and conditions, and confirming order details.
  • Ensure that all purchased items meet the required quality standards and are delivered on time.
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to plan and execute timely purchases.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure the best prices, terms, and conditions.
  • Review and manage contracts to ensure compliance and resolve issues related to performance.
  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams on contractual and financial matters.
  • Manage procurement budgets, ensuring cost-effective purchasing within financial constraints.
  • Analyze pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
  • Implement cost control measures and monitor spending against budgets.
  • Ensure procured goods and services meet industry safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Address risks related to supplier performance, quality issues, or supply chain disruptions.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports, including spend analysis and supplier performance metrics.
  • Recommend process improvements and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to align on procurement needs and priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and stakeholders to resolve issues and inquiries.
Skills
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites or company facilities.
Qualifications & Experience

Qualification :

  • Matric Certificate
  • Certifications or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related fields.

Knowledge & Experience :

  • Proven experience as a Procurement Buyer or similar role, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience.
