Job description

Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for repairs and general maintenance of public areas, guest rooms, Back of House areas, plant rooms, plant machinery, administration, and Marina building.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to:

1. Performing repair, maintenance, and installation work according to departmental procedures and operational requirements.
2. Having good knowledge of installing TVs, PlayStations, and most electronic equipment.
3. Possessing basic knowledge of testing electricity and isolating power.
4. Understanding of pumping stations, water tanks, boilers, and associated accessories.
5. Having basic knowledge of chillers, freezers, split units, AHU, and fan coil units.
6. Performing general maintenance in guest rooms, including plumbing (traps, taps, showers), electrical (lamps, plugs, heated towel rails), painting, door locks, and hinges.
7. Maintaining machinery and equipment mentioned above effectively.
8. Completing requests in a timely, accurate, efficient, and knowledgeable manner.
9. Being flexible with working hours and able to multitask.
10. Taking initiative and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
11. Using and maintaining all tools and equipment properly.
12. Adhering to legal requirements and OHS regulations.
13. Performing other duties as required.

Physical Aspects of Position:

• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, pulling, sitting.
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairwells, and ramps.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge and skills in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, construction, and general maintenance.
• Matric / Grade 12 qualification is required; related qualifications are advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a similar role.
• Ability to repair and maintain all areas related to daily duties.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance and testing equipment.
• Previous hospitality experience is a plus.
• Fluent in English (verbal & written); second language is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills and guest service skills.
• Effective listening, understanding, and problem-solving abilities.
• Physically fit and able to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
• Ability to identify, prevent, and resolve work-related challenges.
