Responsibilities
  • Perform wildlife patient care and handling with excellence;
  • Manage clinic administration including record keeping, hygiene, stock control, equipment care, and safety measures;
  • Supervise personnel;
  • Administer and monitor sedation, assist with anesthesia monitoring;
  • Assist with emergency procedures;
  • Communicate effectively with patient owners;
  • Demonstrate techniques, instruct students and student nurses, and evaluate their performance;
  • Train and guide your team;
  • Perform relief duties in other sections of OVAH;
  • Perform shift duties in the large animal section.
Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (DipCurAnim or Dip Vet Nursing) or equivalent;
  • Registration with the South African Veterinary Council;
  • At least one year’s experience in veterinary nursing and clinic management.
Required Competencies
  • Knowledge of wildlife nursing procedures, biosecurity measures, and animal handling;
  • Meticulous, professional, responsible;
  • Physical mobility;
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Availability to work weekends and outside normal hours when required;
  • Effective communication skills.
Added Advantages
  • Experience in wildlife nursing and handling;
  • Experience in a high-pressure emergency clinic environment with triage and multiple emergency procedures.

Note: Shortlisted candidates may need to participate in skills assessments.

The annual remuneration will be commensurate with the appointment level, and UP offers medical aid schemes with contributions.
