VACANCY
SA STEELWORKS – CONTROLLER (Meltshop - Casting Section)
AIRPORT INDUSTRIA – CAPE TOWN

SA Steelworks has a Controller position available for a committed and hardworking individual. The successful candidate will support the Melt Shop Department located at Airport Industria, Cape Town. Applicants are required to complete a skills test; only those with an average pass rate of 70% will be invited for a personal interview. (SHIFT POSITION)

Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
  1. Control the operational procedures of the Casting Machine.
  2. Manage quality standards in accordance with set targets and guidelines.
  3. Manage activities of senior operators to ensure smooth shift operations.
  4. Communicate incidents such as delays, failures, or breakouts through the correct channels.
  5. Identify potential failures and implement effective solutions.
  6. Ensure downtime is utilized effectively.
  7. Monitor production output by reviewing SCADA feedback and casting parameters.
  8. Perform daily checks and monitor continuous billet casting machinery.
  9. Ensure smooth operation of billet casting.
  10. Complete incident reports and submit them to the Supervisor.
  11. Investigate incidents and communicate findings and possible solutions promptly.
  12. Implement and monitor Occupational Health and Safety compliance.
Applicants Must Have The Following Qualifying Criteria
  1. Matric (Mathematics compulsory)
  2. Diploma or studying towards a qualification in Engineering
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  4. Ability to detect machine discrepancies
  5. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
  6. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a production or mechanical environment
  7. Self-motivated and self-driven with the ability to perform with minimal supervision
  8. Ability to work under challenging conditions
  9. Good health and physical fitness
