The Maxwell Underground Mine owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced construction with production planned of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life, the underground mine targets high-quality coal, with the majority being metallurgical coal.

About the Role

We have a rare opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer - Surface Infrastructure to join our team in the Hunter Valley. In this role, you will provide technical support for the operation and installation of mine infrastructure, applying engineering standards while supporting asset management, maintenance, and reliability to ensure operational efficiency and optimisation.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Develop, supervise, monitor, and review mechanical engineering plans, standards, and procedures for surface operations.
  2. Refine the work management system for fixed plant across a wide area (e.g., CHP, TLO, and other infrastructure) to ensure reliability and support the budgeting process and whole-of-life planning.
  3. Evaluate the impact of planned capital and maintenance activities on asset condition and associated risks.
  4. Assist in the design, planning, estimation, installation, and commissioning of capital projects for new equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams, site personnel, and contractors to achieve project and operational goals.

About You

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following areas:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • NSW Practising Certificate Mechanical Engineering Manager is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a mining environment or similar heavy industry.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in mining.
  • Excellent technical leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
