Requirements:

Qualifications / Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
• Certifications in Data Management Professional, AWS Certified Big would be advantageous.

Experience & Skills:

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data architecture, data management, or related roles within a complex enterprise environment.
• Proficient in data modeling techniques and tools (e.g., ERwin, Microsoft Visio), and strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with data governance principles, data quality frameworks, and cloud data platforms.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, fostering a proactive approach to data management challenges.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment, embodying the urgency and empathy that our culture promotes.

Responsibilities:

Data Architecture Design:

• Develop and maintain scalable and secure data architecture frameworks and patterns that align with the firm’s strategic objectives and operational needs.
• Design and implement robust data models and patterns that optimize data storage, retrieval, and transformation processes, promoting high data quality and availability.

Data Governance and Quality:

• Collaborate with the Data Governance and Quality team to establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Implement data quality controls and best practices to maintain the integrity and reliability of data assets, enhancing trust among stakeholders.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work with various teams, including Application Architects, Data Engineers, and business units, to gather requirements and understand data needs.
• Facilitate discussions to articulate data-related challenges and opportunities, promoting a collaborative approach to data management.

Technology Evaluation and Implementation:

• Evaluate emerging data technologies, tools, and trends to recommend optimal solutions that leverage the power of data analysis and enhance decision-making capabilities.
• Lead the integration of cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and on-premises solutions to create a unified data architecture.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements within data architecture practices, promoting a culture of continuous innovation and adaptation.
• Champion the use of AI-assisted tools to enhance data analytics, reporting, and visualization capabilities.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation related to data architecture, including data models, workflows, and governance practices.
• Report on architecture initiatives, data governance status, and compliance to senior management, highlighting key metrics and areas for enhancement.

Training and Knowledge Sharing:

• Mentor junior team members and foster knowledge sharing across the Africa Tech and Digital team, contributing to collective expertise in data architecture and management.
• Advocate for data literacy within the organization, providing training and resources to ensure that all employees understand the importance of data quality and governance.

Support and Troubleshooting:

• Collaborate with relevant teams to troubleshoot data-related issues, ensuring high availability and performance of data systems.
• Analyze incidents to identify root causes and implement preventive measures to reduce future occurrences, showing a commitment to continuous excellence.
