BDO South Africa has a vacancy for an Employee Benefits Consultant in our Cape Town office, reporting to the Director of Employee Benefits.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas:

  1. Annual Review of scheme benefits
  2. Advise clients on appropriate benefits aligned with market trends and industry standards, including obtaining quotes, conducting costings, and benefit analysis, and auditing current benefits.
  3. Processing of Scheme
  4. Implement installations and amendments within SLA requirements, maintain fund and risk rules, ensure data compliance, prepare member communications, and submit documents to insurers.
  5. Board of Management Meetings
  6. Organize and document meetings, set schedules, follow up on action items, and provide training as needed.
  7. Investments
  8. Monitor investment performance, ensure strategy implementation, and process switch forms correctly.
  9. Member Communication
  10. Maintain accurate member documentation, provide retirement planning and education, and draft presentations and newsletters.
  11. Daily Client Maintenance/Service
  12. Issue timely documents, prepare reports, resolve queries, and provide advice on benefits, legislation, and compliance issues.
  13. Best Practice
  14. Maintain performance standards, ensure task accuracy, engage professionally with clients, and stay updated on industry innovations.
  15. Contribute to team efficiency and develop industry knowledge, including legislation like the Pension Funds Act, Taxation, and FAIS Act.
  16. Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • RE5 and FSP licensed in Long Term, Retail Pension Benefits, Pension Funds Benefits, and Collective Investment Schemes categories.
  • CFP or similar qualification / NQF level 5 minimum.
  • At least 3 years of consulting experience in Employee Benefits.
