Job Overview

The role involves overseeing and coordinating the operations of the truck service workshop by managing technician teams, ensuring workflow efficiency, and maintaining high standards of service quality, safety, and productivity. Responsibilities include job allocation, technical troubleshooting, progress monitoring, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards, company policies, and regulations. The role supports operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and technical excellence, while upholding the company’s integrity and compliance policies.

Main Job Activities:

  1. People Management:
    • Establish workshop staff requirements and adhere to recruitment processes.
    • Conduct performance appraisals and take appropriate actions.
    • Identify training needs and facilitate training in line with DTSA standards.
    • Hold regular staff meetings to improve communication and motivation.
    • Manage HR planning, leave, incentives, and overtime payments.
    • Meet EE requirements according to the EE plan.
  2. Customer Service:
    • Analyze and address customer needs effectively.
    • Maintain a "first-time right" policy.
    • Manage comebacks, follow up on customer complaints courteously and promptly.
    • Ensure vehicles are tested, ready, and cleaned at the scheduled time, and inform Service Advisors of progress.
    • Protect customer property and communicate effectively with other departments to enhance customer satisfaction.
  3. Workshop Productivity:
    • Set and manage labour sales and profit targets.
    • Manage labour sales and workshop profitability.
    • Plan workshop activities effectively and monitor productivity reports.
    • Maintain a database of technician efficiency and assist with on-the-job training.
    • Ensure warranty work complies with standards, minimize wastage of consumables.
  4. Housekeeping, Tools, and Equipment:
    • Manage tool store, equipment, and registers as per dealership procedures.
    • Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment.
    • Report defective equipment and diagnostic systems.
  5. Product, Technical & Business Knowledge:
    • Stay updated on industry developments, new products, warranty, and maintenance.
    • Attend technical and product training as required.
    • Mentor apprentices and learners, update workshop manuals.
  6. Administration:
    • Adhere to all relevant DTSA administrative standards.

Qualifications

  • Trade test certificate: Diesel Mechanic.
  • Valid Code 14 License and PDP are advantageous.

Experience

  • 3-5 years relevant experience in the commercial vehicles industry.
  • Proficiency in Kerridge or similar systems.

Special Knowledge

  • Technical knowledge of commercial vehicles.
  • Skills in communication, analysis, planning, management, sales, negotiation, and customer service.
  • Understanding of sales, marketing, company policies, and corporate governance.

  • Foreign nationals require work visas/permits.
