Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3-year National Diploma in Engineering or relevant qualification.
- Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as an Engineering Technician or submission for Professional registration as an Engineering Technician (proof of payment required). Registration with ECSA as an Engineering Technician must be obtained within 6 months of appointment.
- A minimum of 3 years relevant post-qualification technical (engineering) experience.
- A valid driving license (Code B or higher).
Key Performance Areas
- Render technical services: Assist engineers, technologists, and associates in field, workshop, and technical office activities.
- Promote safety in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to incorporate new technology and produce technical designs with specifications for evaluation and approval.
- Perform administrative functions and provide input into budgeting, reporting, and operational planning.
- Develop, implement, and maintain databases; supervise technical personnel and assets.
- Engage in research and professional development to stay updated with new technologies and procedures.
- Liaise with stakeholders on engineering-related matters.
Competencies
- Technical support in pavement and geotechnical design for roads.
- Knowledge of road infrastructure materials, quality control, and management.
- Research skills related to new products, specifications, and test methods.
- Knowledge of legal compliance, decision-making, teamwork, creativity, customer focus, communication, computer literacy, people management, planning, change management, and analytical skills.
Remuneration
Grade A: R - R per annum; Grade B: R - R per annum; Grade C: R - R per annum. Salary will be determined based on post-registration experience as per OSD prescribed. Remuneration packages may include benefits such as medical assistance, housing, pension contributions, etc.
