Lead Electrical Engineer
Facilities Management Experience
Location: East London
Salary: £55k + Overtime
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shifts: 4 days on, 4 off – rotating day and night shifts (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00)
Holiday: 20 days annual leave
On-Call: 1 in 4 rota
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our facilities management team at a critical data centre site.

This role is shift-based, involving both day and night work, and is ideal for someone with a solid background in electrical systems, data centre environments, and critical infrastructure maintenance.

You will play a key role in delivering high standards of compliance, escalation, and service reliability across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage electrical maintenance and reactive repair tasks within a live data centre environment.
  2. Ensure critical systems (HV / LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, etc.) are maintained to high standards.
  3. Monitor and control building management systems (BMS) and escalate issues as per site protocols.
  4. Follow structured logging, escalation, and incident management procedures to maintain uptime and compliance.
  5. Support and supervise contractors and junior engineers on shift.
  6. Complete routine PPMs, fault finding, and emergency repairs.
  7. Maintain detailed records of work, incidents, and compliance logs.
  8. Participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota and provide emergency response as needed.
  9. Adhere to health & safety and site-specific risk assessments.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Installation (essential).
  • Proven facilities management experience, ideally in a critical/data centre environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, control panels, and power distribution.
  • Comfortable working on high-voltage systems (HVAP advantageous but not essential).
  • Excellent understanding of escalation and incident logging in mission-critical settings.
  • Confident working on a rotating day/night shift pattern.
  • Good communication skills and a calm, methodical approach to high-pressure situations.
