Head of Finance (Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper – Depending on Experience)

Location :

R30 – R50,000 per month (CTC, based on experience)

Overview

We are hiring a finance leader for Grapevine Media and Green Media. The role will be filled at either an Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper level, depending on the candidate's experience and capability. This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing daily financial operations, managing external service providers, and ensuring compliance and control. Only one candidate will be selected based on capability and cultural fit.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Finance Leadership
    • Lead daily financial operations including bookkeeping, reconciliations, and cash flow management.
    • Manage relationships with external accounting providers (e.g., The Beancounter).
    • Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring collections within agreed terms.
    • Assist in payroll preparation and SARS submissions.
    • Support monthly management reports and compliance documentation.
    • Prepare or assist with annual budgets and liaise with auditors.
    • Maintain accurate financial records in Xero.
  2. Light HR / IT / Facilities Oversight (10%)
    • Coordinate with LaborNet for employment contracts and HR compliance.
    • Handle basic IT procurement and vendor management.
    • Oversee office facilities including supplies and maintenance.
Who We're Looking For

A reliable, organized, detail-oriented finance professional capable of operating independently, with confidence in managing the finance function and communicating effectively with teams and external partners. Technically proficient in reconciliations, VAT, payroll, and accounting systems. Demonstrates leadership with a hands-on approach to system improvement and discipline enforcement.

Requirements

We consider candidates at two experience levels:

  1. Accountant Level (Up to R50,000 CTC)
    • BCom in Accounting or similar
    • 5–8+ years of accounting and financial oversight experience
    • Strong skills in Xero, Excel, and reporting
    • Strategic understanding of cash flow, compliance, and financial control
  2. Senior Bookkeeper Level (Up to R40,000 CTC)
    • Diploma or BCom in Bookkeeping / Accounting
    • 5+ years of full bookkeeping experience
    • Strong reconciliation, VAT, and payroll knowledge
    • Comfortable working with external providers and managing daily finance tasks
