Job Summary:
The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food items on the grill, and coordinating with the Executive Chef on daily and special function menus.
Job Description:
- Set up, restock, and break down the grill station.
- Produce daily meal items and menu specials.
- Prepare specials, hot sandwiches, and sides for service.
- Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and tasting meats, vegetables, and other grilled foods.
- Operate kitchen equipment for food preparation, including measuring, mixing, washing, peeling, cutting, and shredding food, as well as trimming and cutting meat and poultry.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors.
- Taste food, check menus, estimate requirements, and keep records to plan production.
- Manage food waste by recycling or disposing of excess food properly.
- Ensure cleanliness of all equipment and utensils used in the grill area.
- Maintain temperature logs and signage for the grill station.
- Stay aware of safety issues and report them immediately.
Skill and Knowledge Requirements:
- Partial High School education required; High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Culinary knowledge.
- Food Safety certification and strong sanitation habits.
- Strong customer service skills; proactive in assisting customers and coworkers.
- Ability to recognize problems and communicate with management.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Frequent movement within the work environment.
- Bend, lift, carry, and reach above shoulder height regularly.
- Lift up to 25 lbs regularly, 30-35 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Stand for the entire workday and climb stairs regularly.
- Work in temperature extremes in freezer, refrigerator, and grill areas.
- Read and write work-related documents in English.
- Communicate verbally with clarity and understanding in English.
- Physical presence at the job site is essential.
