Job description

Overall Purpose of the Job: To direct and oversee the financial activities of the company, including the preparation of financial reports, summaries, and forecasts in collaboration with Heads of Departments and the Group Executive, ensuring the company's financial position supports continued success.

This role will: manage daily operations impacting the company's financial health, analyze activities to promote growth, assess and mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with IFRS, tax laws, and the Companies Act. It also involves treasury and banking management.

Education (Formal Qualification Required): CA(SA) with SAICA membership.

Experience: Proven leadership skills, integrity, and extensive experience in accounting, regulatory compliance, tax planning, risk mitigation, and financial management. Experience in FMCG or manufacturing sectors, technology (SAP preferred), and strong communication skills are essential.

Position Responsibilities include:

1. Budgeting: Collaborate with senior management to develop budgets, provide financial insights, and ensure compliance.
2. Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash management, investments, insurance, and financial reporting to support operational needs.
3. Risk Management & Internal Controls: Develop internal controls to mitigate financial risks, conduct audits, and review legal contracts.
4. Costing & Pricing: Review product costing and pricing strategies.
5. Payments & ERP Management: Approve outgoing payments, verify costs and prices, and ensure accurate ERP uploads.
6. Payroll: Review monthly payroll and related statutory submissions.
7. Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare financial statements, coordinate audits, and maintain internal controls.
8. Working Capital & Treasury: Manage cash flow, liquidity, banking relationships, and negotiate terms.
9. Tax: Handle VAT, provisional tax, and deferred tax computations.
10. Finance Department Management: Lead financial planning, analysis, reporting, risk management, and team development.
11. Projects & Debt: Ensure project budgets are adhered to and manage financing structures to meet covenants.
12. Insurance: Renew policies annually, focusing on product recall and liability coverage, ensuring compliance with certifications.
