Objective :

Caregivers can work independently in client homes or for a healthcare facility providing personal care to patients.

They typically travel to a client's home and help them perform basic domestic tasks like cleaning and activities of daily living such as bathing and providing them with companionship and emotional support.

Job Description :

Provide clients with companionship, socialization, and mental stimulation

Transport clients to and from appointments, errands, activities, etc.

Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene

Assist with transfers & ambulation

Provide medication reminders

Prepare and cook meals

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Experience with dementia care; Alzheimer's; Parkinson's

Empathy and the ability to care for the client's social, emotional, physical, and mental needs

Ability to respond to emergency situations

Physical ability to reach with hands and arms

Ability to carry, lift, or pull up to 50 pounds while avoiding injury from transferring, repositioning, or lifting patients

Ability to occasionally push / pull objects up to 50 pounds and to bend / kneel to complete activities

Physical strength and stamina
