Location: Durban, KZN

Salary: R444,000 Per Annum

Our client, a well-established company in the Insurance sector, is seeking a skilled Assistant Manager – Remuneration & Benefits. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced business environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in Commerce or Human Sciences

• Preferred: Postgraduate Degree in Commerce/Human Sciences with Statistics

• Professional Registration:

• South African Rewards Association (Remuneration Specialist) – Preferred

• South African Board for People Practice – Preferred

• Essential: Global Remuneration Practitioner (GRP) certification

Experience & Knowledge Requirements

• 8–10 years in Remuneration, Rewards, and Benefits Management in a corporate environment

• 5+ years in a managerial or supervisory role

• Knowledge of employment and remuneration legislation & statutory requirements

• Strong understanding of corporate HR reward systems, policies, and structures

• Expertise in Tax & Labour legislation, governance, and risk management

• Experience in remuneration analysis, modeling, and policy development

• Familiarity with job evaluation systems (Paterson Grading System preferred)

• Proficiency in Advanced Excel, MS Office, and MS Project

Key Responsibilities

1. Remuneration Strategy & Job Evaluation

• Develop and implement remuneration policies and procedures

• Coordinate and facilitate job evaluations and grading through the Job Evaluation Committee

• Educate stakeholders on job evaluation practices and systems

• Maintain and update organizational structures and headcount reports

• Implement ratified job grading outcomes

2. Financial & Budget Management

• Develop, monitor, and manage the Remuneration and Benefits budget

• Ensure compliance with remuneration and benefits-related legislation

3. Human Resource & Team Management

• Develop and implement the Remuneration and Benefits Strategy

• Manage and mentor the Remuneration and Benefits Team

• Establish Individual Development Plans for team members

4. Salary Review & Benchmarking

• Recommend salary review guidelines to HR Leadership, EXCO, and HR & Remuneration Committee

• Facilitate the salary review process, including training and documentation

• Prepare payroll upload schedules and employee letters

• Conduct internal and external benchmarking to maintain competitive salary structures

5. Payroll Management & Compliance

• Maintain relationships with external payroll service providers

• Develop and implement payroll management procedures

• Ensure efficient payroll administration and incentive scheme management

• Optimize self-service/automated HR processes

• Innovate and improve employee benefits offerings

• Ensure legislative tax and benefits compliance

6. HR Data Integrity & Reporting

• Ensure high-level security and integrity of HR data

• Prepare and submit HR reports to the Group HR Manager

• Identify and address audit risks and operational concerns
