Sawmill Mechanical Engineer (GCC adv), Nelspruit, Rneg + ben

• BS / B Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years' experience in a similar role and a valid GCC.
• Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry is advantageous.
• Knowledge of SAP PM is advantageous.

Purpose of the Job

To effectively manage the maintenance resources of the Paper and Tissue machines to optimize machine availability and performance at the Mill.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to applicable engineering standards, procedures, and practices.
• Provide engineering and maintenance expertise in investigating failures and problems raised at client meetings.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to develop maintenance programs and best practices.
• Prepare and manage annual capital and maintenance cost budgets to ensure efficient and safe operation of the plant.
• Control expenditure and schedules for capital and renewal projects within budget.
• Manage projects initiated or prioritized by the client, either directly or through contracted resources.
• Oversee change management and project management processes.
• Maintain plant and equipment in line with the client’s manufacturing strategy, minimizing asset lifecycle costs, maintaining efficiencies, and ensuring legal compliance.
• Develop equipment replacement or optimization plans to enhance performance, reliability, and lifespan.
• Foster effective people management and develop subordinates within your areas of responsibility.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and SHEQ standards within scope.
• Investigate SHEQ incidents, identify root causes of non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the workplace at all times.
