Job description

The role requires knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Contract Management, gained through experience working within contractor or employer organizations. This includes, but is not limited to, understanding contracts, risk, health & safety, progress planning, partnering, and cost reporting methodologies.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For :

  • Managing the administration of work packages related to all commercial, contractual, and performance matters for specific elements of the Kusile Power Station, South Africa, using FIDIC and NEC contracts.
  • Fulfilling the role of Package Engineer's Assistant as defined within a FIDIC Contract.
  • Monitoring the Contractor's Health and Safety performance against contract-specific requirements.
  • Monitoring the Contractor's Quality performance against contract-specific requirements.
  • Monitoring the Contractor's progress against project targets.
  • Ensuring adherence to contractual commercial processes and procedures.
  • Managing commercial package objectives and cascading them to the team.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities to minimize employer liability.
  • Developing staff responsibilities for project sections and fostering team spirit.
  • Performing other tasks reasonably within the scope of the role.
  • Applying SHEQ / Zero Harm Health and Safety objectives and procedures where appropriate.
  • Being aware of environmental objectives and procedures related to the project site.

Health and Safety :

  • Modeling SHEQ standards and influencing others to maintain standards.
  • Contributing to SHEQ risk identification and Zero Harm initiatives.
  • Promoting company values and maintaining a safe working environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of Contract Management experience, including 5 years in a leadership role within a contracting company or as a Resident Engineer.
  • Experience managing major contracts.
  • Good understanding of FIDIC contract conditions.
  • Technical knowledge in commercial, contract, and risk management.
  • Exposure to large engineering and construction projects, preferably in the Power or Infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills; ability to develop professional relationships.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to operate under pressure.
  • Proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary commercial teams and driving organizational change.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a construction-related discipline.
  • Membership of a professional institution.
