Job description

Our client in the manufacturing industry is urgently looking to employ an experienced Buyer at their organization.

Location : Strydom Park, Randburg

Requirements :
  • Matric
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer
  • Must reside in the Northern / Western Suburbs of JHB
  • Must be fluent in Afrikaans (non-negotiable)
  • Pastel Evolution experience preferred but not required
  • Imports experience
  • Incoterms Knowledge
Responsibilities :
  • Determine quantities of raw materials required and purchase local and imported raw materials
  • Monitor stock levels to ensure sufficient inventory is available to meet sales demands
  • Create and issue purchase orders to suppliers using Pastel Evolution
  • Track import and local orders, including monitoring arrival dates and ensuring timely delivery
  • Receive import documentation and forward original documents to the import agent for processing
  • Update procurement workbook daily with new orders, shipment dates, and related information for the weekly buying meeting
  • Maintain communication with import and transport agents to ensure smooth logistics
  • Coordinate local collections as necessary to streamline inventory management
  • Notify the sales team of price increases, shipment delays, or any relevant changes
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff and stock controllers to ensure proper stock management and accuracy
  • Communicate with the accounts department regarding stock receipts and related financial documentation
  • Calculate landed costs for imported goods to assess total expenses and profitability
  • Track incoming supplier sample results and ensure timely follow-up and documentation
  • Handle all procurement-related tasks, collaborating with management and suppliers to achieve positive outcomes
  • Manage time effectively through diligent planning and prioritization of tasks
  • Respond promptly to emails and maintain professional communication with colleagues and suppliers
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Incoterms and apply relevant terms in procurement activities
