Job Purpose
To prepare and deliver exceptional beverage services within the banqueting and/or restaurant operations, ensuring continuous achievement and professional execution of internal (SOP) standards.
Key Performance Areas
- Prepared Work Area
- Prepare mise-en-place and conduct checks and preparations for service
- Identify issues with bar display and surrounding areas regarding appearance and equipment functioning
- Stock bar for service
- Check cleanliness of own section or station
Service Execution
- Stay updated on food products, trends, and drinks methodologies to deliver menus effectively
- Follow Food & Beverage SOPs in all tasks
- Take guest orders accurately and promptly, and record in the system
- Explain menu items and recommend beverages
- Mix drinks and present beverages according to guest orders and outlet standards
- Attend to guest requests attentively
- Clear glasses after guests finish their drinks
- Provide billing and conduct cash-ups at end of service
- Complete beverage stock sheets each shift
- Upsell promotional items whenever possible
Bar Standards
- Adhere to F&B SOPs
- Comply with health, safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations
- Use and store equipment safely and according to specifications
- Participate in stock takes and conduct daily stock counts
- Report anomalies and breakages appropriately
Customer Engagement
- Provide warm welcomes, friendly greetings, and respectful interactions with guests
- Engage with guests professionally, providing solutions and understanding preferences
- Educate guests on facilities, products, rewards, and promotions
- Handle complaints, requests, and suggestions effectively, escalating when necessary
Education
Grade 12 preferred; Grade 10 with relevant experience acceptable
Experience
Minimum 2 years as a bartender
