Are you a qualified SAIPA professional eager to advance your career in a global setting?

Our client (US-based CPA firm) is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team.

This role offers the unique opportunity to work with international clients, delve into US tax systems, and collaborate closely with a global US team—all while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid work environment.

Why This Role Stands Out
  1. Unlock U.S. Accounting Expertise: Step into the world's most lucrative accounting market—the United States. This role is your gateway to mastering U.S. accounting and tax systems, financial reporting, and client service expectations that are globally recognized and highly rewarded.
  2. Accelerated Career Growth: Work directly with a top-tier U.S. CPA firm and receive mentorship from seasoned professionals.
The learning curve is steep—but so is the career trajectory.
  3. Global Experience, Local Comfort: Work on international engagements with clients across the U.S., all while based in Stellenbosch and supported by a hybrid work model. You'll collaborate with a dynamic global team without missing out on the lifestyle benefits of working from home.
  4. Dynamic Environment: Adapt and grow in a fast-paced, challenging atmosphere with a focus on continuous improvement and strategic client engagement.
  5. Future-Proof Your Career: Whether your long-term goal is to move abroad or climb the leadership ranks, U.S. accounting and tax skills are a major asset that unlock global opportunities.
What You'll Do
  1. Weekly Management: Categorize bank feeds with precision to ensure client financials are always accurate.
Conduct monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
    Clear Accounts Payable weekly.
Produce comprehensive financial statements and reports.
Prepare and file monthly Sales Tax returns.
  2. Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with US clients.
Assist the Accounting and Tax Manager with clear and effective communication.
  3. New Client Onboarding: Play a key role in integrating new clients seamlessly into our system.
  4. Monthly Sales Tax Compilations: Compile and file the monthly sales tax filings for relevant states for all US clients under your supervision.
  5. Ad-hoc Support: Manage special client requests efficiently as they arise.
  6. Pathway to U.S. Tax Work: After establishing a solid foundation in accounting and demonstrating strong technical accuracy, you'll transition into hands-on involvement with U.S. tax work.

This is your entry point into one of the most in-demand, globally transferable, and financially lucrative areas of the accounting profession—building expertise that sets you apart in the accounting market.

Who You Are
  • Qualifications: BCom in Accounting is preferred, with a priority given to graduates from Stellenbosch, UCT, University of Pretoria, North-West, or Wits.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience, including articles, is required.
  • Professional Credentials: Fully Qualified, Member of SAIPA.
  • Flexibility: Comfortable working non-standard US hours (until 11 PM on weeknights).
Open to international travel as required.
  • Adaptable & Eager to Learn: Enthusiastic about acquiring expertise in US tax systems, with any prior experience in compiling US Tax Returns considered a significant advantage.
  • Communication Skills: Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a virtual setting.
