Job description

Job Location : Western Cape, Cape Town Deadline : May 24, 2025

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Provide training and support to academic staff and occasionally students to promote online mediation skills development on the LMS platform, enhancing the student learning experience.
• Support the Academic team and students in a blended learning environment, collaborating with other Educational Technologists on planning, problem-solving, and support for LMS and blended learning issues.

Support & Development of Lecturers on Campus

• Design lecturer development processes, including analyzing LMS analytics, facilitating feedback, and setting benchmarks for LMS engagement.
• Contribute to peer reviews and continuous technological development plans.
• Conduct training workshops for both independent contractors and permanent lecturers on the LMS.
• Implement onboarding and buddy systems for new lecturers.
• Collaborate with Ed Tech, academic teams, and national technologists to strategize training.

Quality Assurance of EDTECH Experience on Campus

• Evaluate LMS training effectiveness for students and assess their ability to navigate the LMS.
• Monitor and report on lecturers' development progress, and update workshop materials and resources accordingly.

Promoting Online Engagement Culture on Campus

• Support policies and strategies for Ed Tech adoption and change management.
• Foster communities of practice to promote online engagement and blended learning strategies.
• Encourage evidence-based decision-making and the adoption of contemporary T&L developments.

Online Facilitation

• Facilitate one module per semester; optional facilitation of one module per year for the Online Centre.

EDTECH Development

• Stay updated with industry benchmarks through courses, conferences, and reading; attend relevant professional development activities.

Research & Scholarship

• Promote a culture of scholarship, contribute to institutional research outputs, and maintain effective communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrate reflective teaching practices and manage relationships effectively.
• Possess high proficiency in educational applications supporting blended learning.

Minimum Qualification Requirements :

• Bachelor's Degree (B.Com, B.Ed., or BSc) with Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor's Honours, or equivalent experience.
• Higher postgraduate qualifications (Med, MA, MPhil, PhD) are preferred.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements :

• At least 2 years as an Educational Technologist and 1 year of lecturing/teaching experience if no postgraduate qualification.
