Purpose of the Job

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager : Schools (Eastern Cape) to implement and manage key educational and transformation projects aimed at growing and transforming the accounting profession. The successful candidate will play a critical role in promoting the CA, AGA, and AT designations and building a sustainable talent pipeline from school-level learners.

These programmes are dedicated to providing African and Coloured learners with structured support from high school through to professional qualification, contributing meaningfully to transformation within the profession and society at large.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management
  • Manage full lifecycle of allocated projects : proposal, budgeting, contracting, implementation, and closure.
  • Track and evaluate project success, report monthly and quarterly.
  • Assist in creating presentations and promotional material.
  • Attend and organize events, occasionally outside standard working hours.
  • Act as project champion when assigned.
  • Budget Management
  • Prepare and manage project budgets in line with approved allocations.
  • Adhere to procurement procedures and obtain appropriate approvals for expenditure.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance of projects.
  • Ensure timely submission of invoices and supporting documents.
  • Fundraising
  • Assist in fundraising efforts under the guidance of the Lead, Specialist Donor Funding, or Head of Department.
  • Corporate Governance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory processes and organizational policies.
  • Prepare timely reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to BBBEE compliance initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including schools, education departments, and the broader profession.
  • Respond professionally to queries and provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accurately refer queries to the appropriate departments when necessary.
  • Brand Management
  • Liaise with internal marketing and communications teams to develop and support relevant campaigns.
  • Ensure appropriate branding and media coverage of projects and transformation initiatives.
  • General Responsibilities
  • Support and collaborate with other managers and departments within the organisation.
  • Partner with external organisations like ABASA and AWCA on transformation initiatives.
  • Provide general support to the Head or Lead on various assignments as needed.
  • Organisational Transformation
  • Drive operational efficiency and cost containment.
  • Support the shift to a data-driven and insights-focused culture.
  • Leverage technology and AI tools to improve processes and service delivery.
  • Integrate sustainability and risk considerations into project planning and management.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Technical Skills and Knowledge :

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Basic budgeting and procurement process knowledge.
  • Deep understanding of the South African education landscape.
  • Effective facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Experience Required :

  • Minimum 5 years in a management role, including project management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with youth.
  • Experience engaging with a variety of stakeholders at different levels.
