Job Description

Safety: Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.

Performance and Delivery:

1. Drive the mandate of business improvement at operations, providing expert support on AAOM principles.
2. Deploy a continuous improvement framework aligned to Anglo Operating Model (Feedback: Measures / Analyze & Improve), as well as Six Sigma and Lean.
3. Identify required purpose & theory measures and implement them to monitor process performance.
4. Implement, maintain, and improve the measurement system for monitoring process performance (stability & capability) to support timely intervention into the process.
5. Implement and lead management routines to support the continuous improvement framework, ensuring control actions are effectively implemented to increase process performance.
6. Ensure the successful implementation of a continuous improvement training program and upskilling line management in continuous improvement methodologies.
7. Track value realization monthly & quarterly for each improvement project.
8. Engage and influence site leadership teams to adopt the Business Improvement / Continuous Improvement framework aligned with the Anglo Operating Model.
9. Facilitate implementation of new technology to enhance adoption and efficiency of Business Improvement / OM Feedback / Six Sigma / Lean methodologies.
10. Utilize deep understanding and data interpretation to support decision-making.
11. Drive and oversee business improvement projects from initiation to verification of value addition, including initiatives like structured business improvement and operational excellence.

Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, including legislative, regulatory, and permitting standards, and adherence to Anglo American Group BI Site Assurance Framework.

This role is at Band 6 level, reporting to Manager IP & BI.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Degree in Engineering, Processing, or related field (NQF Level 6)
• Six Sigma and Lean qualifications are advantageous.
• Postgraduate qualification is advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience, including 2-3 years in Process, Maintenance Engineering, or related fields within the Mining Industry.
• Relevant training and operational experience specific to AAOM (OP, Work Management & Feedback) are advantageous.
• Project Management experience is advantageous.
• Experience with tools such as lean manufacturing and constraints analysis is advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficient in influencing and stakeholder change management methodologies.
• Expertise in Analyze & Improve / Six Sigma methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience working with diverse teams.
• Expertise in MS Office suite and advanced computer literacy.
• Knowledge of the Mining Industry and relevant legislation, including the Mine Health and Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Strong understanding of key value drivers within the discipline's value chain and interdependence of key levers.
• Business acumen and understanding of commercial drivers affecting site performance.
• Basic financial metrics and budgeting tools knowledge.
• Awareness of best practices and new technologies.
• Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with business improvement tools and techniques.
