Key Purpose

The Distribution Controller will manage distribution performance and activities to surpass delivery challenges, meet customer requirements, and optimize resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead departmental projects and negotiate contractor costs for the best economical prices.
  2. Review departmental machine and manpower resources.
  3. Manage team development and performance.
  4. Lead strategic planning for the financial year, including insights for the Depot Business Plan.
  5. Review master data, business descriptions, process mapping, service level management, routing, planning, and SLAs.
  6. Develop and manage departmental annual budgets (fixed and variable costs).
  7. Plan for peak periods and critical periods.
  8. Manage customer and driver master data.
  9. Conduct bi-annual customer service evaluations and analyze feedback for improvements.
  10. Plan and manage trade visits and ensure compliance.
  11. Manage the full beer return process.
  12. Monitor safety and enforce critical behaviors.
  13. Manage 3PL contractors and drive performance improvements.
  14. Oversee supply chain transfers and adherence to plans.
  15. Review SLAs and address non-compliance issues with stakeholders.
  16. Lead weekly departmental performance meetings.
  17. Address beer age issues with sales and develop action plans.
  18. Prepare and analyze contractor payments.
  19. Manage departmental costs to achieve budget targets.
  20. Align business plans with sales and distribution strategies.
  21. Support distribution team goals aligned with depot plans.
  22. Calculate optimal fleet size and mix for cost-effectiveness and customer service.
  23. Optimize fleet utilization through effective route planning and use of own vs. contracted transport.
  24. Develop vehicle contingency plans.
  25. Ensure statutory compliance of fleet and drivers.
  26. Interpret and implement delivery schedules.
  27. Analyze distribution performance metrics.
  28. Translate business strategies into operational actions.
  29. Manage distribution KPAs and leverage information systems.
  30. Maintain a healthy industrial relations climate.
  31. Manage personnel processes and performance of direct reports.
  32. Communicate effectively within the workplace.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
