About the Role
Proactively and holistically leads and supports Solution Architecture activities that guide the development and management of business applications. Provides the necessary leadership, analysis, and design tasks related to supporting the development of technology solutions. Supports data-driven decision-making through architecture of BI / reporting tools such as PowerBI, and backend systems like Microsoft SQL Server. Provides expert-level support for business-critical applications, focusing on HSE systems including health and safety management, environmental monitoring, and compliance tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret Business Needs and Develop and Maintain Business Applications IT Strategy
- Translate business & technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives & document all solution architecture design & analysis work
- Develop and articulate a clear technical vision for application solutions, aligning with the company's technology roadmap and architectural principles
- Serve as a liaison between the Business, Solution Architects, and the AMS Functional teams
- Work closely with other solution owners and managers to ensure a robust architectural runway that supports future business applications and catalog requirements throughout the product lifecycle
- Application design and solution delivery
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple platforms, ensuring high availability and performance of applications
- Support the migration of business applications to the cloud
- Support the Jivs archiving system
- Assess Technology Solutions and IT Support solutions and service managers in end-of-life product decisions to maintain, refresh, or retire services, including applications, technologies, processes, and information
- Understand emerging technology trends and their practical applications to enable new and evolving applications and operating models
- Analyze the technology industry, competitors, and market trends to determine their potential implications for given solutions
- Analyze the Applications-IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy systems, and technical debt, and recommend solutions for improvement
- Act as a consultant and advisor to the Functions and Solution Delivery on a broad range of development technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
- Take accountability for ensuring solution implementations and changes deliver business requirements

- Integrated technical management and controls
- Technical and audit controls applied with 90% audit compliance, 0 high-priority findings
- Current state architecture documentation, vendor assessment for RFPs, contribution to cost/benefit analysis, proof-of-concept implementation (stretch), solution documentation, enterprise target state architecture (stretch), application/platform strategy (stretch)
Requirements
- BCom or relevant tertiary qualification
- 10+ years supporting business applications
- Knowledge of PowerBI and data analysis
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL, PowerBI, and data visualization tools
- Experience working with HSE applications and systems, including health and safety management, environmental monitoring, and compliance tracking
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into simplicity
