Shift: Saturday, Sunday and Monday (6am-6pm)

SUMMARY

The primary role of the Maintenance Technician is to provide competent & effective Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance support to the Plant and Facility operations in a safe manner. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, adjusting and repairing plant machinery to meet industry standards while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies, including but not limited to USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA and Local Government. The position will require a flexible schedule focusing on preventive maintenance and timely repairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Install, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment such as assembly lines, conveyors, forming, and mixing (oven operations a plus).
  2. Follow work instructions and OSHA safety rules, including the use of all PPE and safety equipment in an industrial environment.
  3. Diagnose problems, replace and repair parts, detect and replace defective items, test and make final adjustments for high-speed production equipment.
  4. Diagnose and repair electrical functions.
  5. Prioritize and triage tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  6. Maintain equipment according to diagrams and manufacturer specifications, following preventive maintenance work orders and scheduled PMs.
  7. Generate work orders and parts requests.
  8. Use machine shop and related machines to repair parts or fabricate modifications.
  9. Complete work orders and PM documentation.
  10. Utilize mechanical and pneumatic processes, including cylinders, glue machines, and date coders.
  11. Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, etc.
  12. Maintain current GMP, Safety, Food Safety, & technical knowledge through training.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following are the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • 2+ years of experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • 4+ years of experience as an experienced maintenance mechanic.
  • PLC experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends, overtime, and occasionally.
  • Ability to follow manufacturing specifications and schematics.
  • Knowledge of food-grade aluminum and stainless-steel welding techniques.
  • Proficiency in fabrication techniques.
  • Electrical knowledge and experience with packing machinery is a plus.
  • Possess necessary hand and power tools for industrial maintenance.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and be self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of tools used for broaching, milling, and lathing.
  • Ability to communicate safety issues effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of control power and main power.
  • Understanding of lubricants and their uses.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Acetylene).
  • Understanding pneumatic and water systems.
  • Ability to solder and read electrical schematics.
  • Identify motor frame, power load, and amp draw.
  • Own a set of professional electrical tools, including voltmeter and ammeter.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Typically, a minimum of five years' experience in related manufacturing jobs provides comprehensive knowledge of the process.

SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret quality documents, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must meet physical requirements to perform essential functions, with accommodations available for disabilities. Tasks include talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, lifting/moving up to 75 pounds, and visual acuity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to moving mechanical parts and energized equipment; noise levels vary.
