Vice President – Functional Leadership for South Africa
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President to lead the newly created L.I.F.E. (Leadership in Integrated Facility & Employee Services) function in South Africa. This is a high-impact role that will shape the integration and strategy for operations, financial management, compliance, and governance in the geography. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Operations, Compliance, Security, and Corporate Real Estate, this role is pivotal in establishing and driving the L.I.F.E. function in South Africa.
This position is the first of its kind in the region and presents a unique opportunity to create and execute a comprehensive strategy for facility management, engineering, hospitality, employee logistics, corporate travel, corporate events, compliance, security, and infrastructure. The VP will ensure these functions align with global objectives while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across the South African operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Direct the overall strategy and execution of integrated facility management, engineering, hospitality, employee logistics, corporate travel, corporate events, compliance, security, and infrastructure across South Africa, ensuring alignment with global strategies and standards.
- Policy and Process Improvement: Champion the development and implementation of new policies, processes, and systems to drive operational excellence and support the business’s growth, scalability, and alignment with corporate goals.
- Team Development and Performance: Build, lead, and inspire a high-performance team by recruiting, mentoring, and investing in talent development, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Governance and Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain strong governance structures for service delivery, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations, mitigate risks, and enhance the overall employee experience and stakeholder engagement.
- Financial and Operational Management: Leverage expertise in operations and financial management to monitor and optimize resource utilization, ensuring alignment with both the organization’s immediate goals and long-term strategic priorities.
- Project Management and Reporting: Lead high-impact projects, provide executive-level insights, and engage with the company’s leadership, including the executive committee and board of directors, to present progress and drive alignment with broader organizational goals.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: At least 7-10 years of senior leadership experience in facility management or related operational roles within multinational organizations, particularly in service-oriented industries such as hospitality, real estate, or facilities management.
- Cross-Industry Expertise: 5-7 years of experience in corporate real estate, facilities management, or service operations, ideally with exposure to both hospitality and international operations.
- Multinational Exposure: Strong international experience with at least 3-5 years spent in leadership roles outside of South Africa, ideally in multinational settings with culturally diverse teams.
- Strategic Leadership: Proven experience in managing large-scale, complex projects, with a history of presenting to senior executives, including C-suite leaders and boards of directors.
- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial reporting, budget management, and the ability to interpret market dynamics, ensuring organizational resources are managed effectively to support strategic objectives.
- Sustainability Expertise: Exposure to sustainability initiatives and environmental programs, with an understanding of industry-specific climate considerations.
- Cultural and Market Insight: A deep understanding of South African operations and market trends, with a strong ability to adapt global strategies to the local environment.
