Financial Controller (JB) - Sandton, Johannesburg
R45 – 50 CTC per month

Seeking a seasoned Financial Controller who thrives in a structured environment with strong internal controls, reporting discipline, and a clear focus on governance.

Role Overview

In this role, you'll lead the full finance function – from monthly reporting and compliance to strategic planning and fraud prevention.

Ideal Candidate

Ideal for someone who's analytical, detail-oriented, and ready to take ownership of processes and risk frameworks across the business. Work in the hospitality sector with renowned hotels while being the financial heartbeat of a business that values accuracy, transparency, and operational excellence.

Minimum Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar
  2. 5+ years' experience in a Financial Controller role
  3. Proficiency in Sage Pastel and Microsoft Office Suite
  4. Strong understanding of financial regulations and internal controls
  5. Hands-on experience with financial reporting, audits, and compliance
  6. High level of integrity and independence
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Oversight
  1. Prepare, review, and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  2. Lead the month-end and year-end close process, including tax postings and reconciliations
  3. Manage intercompany accounts and oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
  4. Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial reporting standards, and internal controls
  5. Provide financial insights to support strategic business decisions
Audit & Risk Management
  1. Coordinate and manage the external audit process and prepare audit packs
  2. Evaluate internal controls, risk management practices, and governance frameworks
  3. Review financial and operational processes to prevent and detect fraud
  4. Conduct operational audits (including stock and inventory reviews)
  5. Follow up on audit recommendations and corrective actions
Systems & Process Improvement
  1. Implement and enhance financial systems and procedures for better efficiency
  2. Assess effectiveness of existing policies, financial tools, and workflows
  3. Ensure ongoing compliance with local and international financial standards
Reporting & Communication
  1. Deliver clear reports and recommendations to management
  2. Communicate findings and drive accountability across departments
  3. Support ongoing training and financial awareness within the business
