Job Title: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Job ID: 6129)

Location: Free State, Bloemfontein

Deadline: June 02, 2025

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Present undergraduate and postgraduate modules in religion studies and related sub-disciplines.
  2. Conduct research in relevant fields of Religion studies.
  3. Publish scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  4. Participate in conferences.
  5. Engage in leadership and administrative roles within the department and faculty.
  6. Lead departmental monthly postgraduate seminars.
  7. Engage in scholarly activities at research, community engagement, or in-service learning levels.
Inherent Requirements
For Lecturer
  • PhD in Theology or related discipline at NQF Level 10 (for permanent appointment).
  • OR Master’s degree in Theology or related discipline at NQF Level 9 (contract appointment: five years, during which a PhD must be obtained for permanent status).
  • Proven experience in delivering conference presentations or equivalent activities.
  • Evidence of manuscripts suitable for publication in accredited journals.
  • Good academic record (attach a copy).
For Senior Lecturer
  • PhD in Theology or related discipline at NQF Level 10.
  • Experience presenting papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
  • Recognition for expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
  • NRF rating or potential to obtain one.
  • Experience supervising master’s degree students.
  • Research record with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Active membership in scholarly societies or committees related to research.
Recommendations
  • PhD in Religion Studies.
  • At least two years of relevant teaching experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge of online teaching tools such as Blackboard.
  • Research record with publications in national accredited journals.
  • Membership or registration with a professional body.
  • Membership in scholarly societies or committees at national or international levels.
