Job Description
The candidate will understand premium and profit objectives through brokers by building relationships that ensure growth and retention through creative and attentive marketing, underwriting, and risk management strategies.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure a consistent and detailed understanding of sales targets, goals, performance levels, products, business rules, and conditions.
- Ensure brokers understand their growth targets, goals, performance levels, available products, and compliance requirements.
- Develop strategies to grow the portfolio, contributing ideas, leadership, and innovation.
- Utilize technology to manage data and portfolio performance.
- Prospect for new brokers and business development opportunities.
- Engage with Underwriting, Claims, and Finance teams.
- Ensure alignment of quality standards and business processes.
- Serve as the primary contact for broker staff to strengthen relationships.
- Drive business performance targets in line with strategy.
- Maintain a deep understanding of and market Santam Heavy Haulage products effectively.
- Identify opportunities to improve product and service offerings.
- Stay informed on market conditions, trends, and industry regulations.
- Prepare market analysis including competitor information for strategic input.
- Participate in industry functions and continuing education.
- Resolve customer and broker complaints and queries.
- Collaborate with support units to deliver service levels.
- Coordinate and deliver training on products, processes, and systems.
- Provide technical leadership within a Portfolio cluster, especially on underwriting matters.
- Participate in retention strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
- FAIS accreditation required.
- RE 5 and NQF 7 insurance or risk management qualification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of Commercial Insurance experience; HCV insurance sales and underwriting experience advantageous.
- Experience visiting brokers and on the road.
- Thorough understanding of Heavy Haulage / HCV insurance products.
- Leadership experience is essential.
