Job description

Description:

The Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef with all food production in the restaurant, conferences and banqueting, room service, and other food outlets. This includes developing and costing menus, orders, and recipe development, while maintaining high standards of food quality and sanitation. The Sous Chef acts as Second-In-Charge when the Executive Sous Chef is absent, taking charge of the kitchen operations. The role primarily involves supervision, food production, and administration.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Matric
  • Culinary Arts Diploma or similar qualification
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a 4/5-star hotel
  • Experience in restaurant service is advantageous
  • Experience with A’la Carte and Banqueting essential
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Customer service orientation with excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication with staff and guests
