Job description

My client, a leading company in warehousing and supply chain management, is seeking a forward-thinking AI Specialist to lead AI adoption in their warehousing and logistics operations.

Main Job Functions & Key Responsibilities:
  1. AI Strategy & Implementation: Design and implement AI/ML solutions tailored to warehouse operations such as predictive maintenance, inventory optimization, order picking, and demand forecasting.
    • Identify use cases where AI can drive cost savings, improve efficiency, or enhance decision-making.
  2. Data Analytics & Model Development: Collect, clean, and analyze large volumes of operational data from WMS, ERP, IoT devices, and other warehouse systems.
    • Develop machine learning models and algorithms to address operational challenges (e.g., route optimization, resource planning, stock prediction).
    • Ensure data models are scalable, explainable, and integrated into business processes.
  3. System Integration & Testing: Collaborate with IT and software teams to integrate AI tools into existing warehouse management systems (WMS) and logistics platforms.
    • Test and validate AI models in real-time warehouse environments and iterate based on performance feedback.
  4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work cross-functionally with Operations, IT, Logistics, and Data teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
    • Educate internal teams on AI capabilities and best practices to support adoption and training.
  5. Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Monitor AI system performance and refine models to ensure optimal outcomes.
    • Create dashboards, visualizations, and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and model impact.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, AI/ML, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in AI/ML development, preferably within warehousing, logistics, or manufacturing environments.
  • Technical Skills: Strong programming skills in Python or R, experience with ML libraries, familiarity with data pipelines, SQL, APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
    • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software, and IoT integration is a strong advantage.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical approach to applying technology in operational settings.
    • Excellent communication skills to translate complex models into business language.
Remuneration:

R45,000 per month. A consultant will contact shortlisted candidates.
