Role Summary
Our client, a global legal practice, is seeking a skilled and qualified Systems Administrator.
The role is responsible for installing, supporting, and maintaining the company's computer systems, as well as planning for and responding to service outages and incidents.
Key Performance Areas
The role will involve, but is not limited to, the following:
- Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Analyze system logs and identify potential issues.
- Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing environments.
- Perform routine audits of systems and software.
- Add, remove, or update user account information, reset passwords, etc.
- Document the implementation of systems.
- Troubleshoot reported problems.
- Contribute to the investigation and analysis of system requirements and assist in developing system specifications.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's hosting environment by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance procedures, and escalations.
- Perform 2nd and 3rd level troubleshooting as required.
- Assist with operational data analysis, backup service enhancement, and maintenance planning.
- Identify methods and solutions to deliver high service levels to all business units, including project work.
- Monitor and troubleshoot backup and restore failures.
- Manage services with cloud providers such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS.
- Install and configure Windows and Linux systems.
- Monitor virtual machines and systems across the company.
- Participate in system improvements, upgrades, and repairs discussions.
- Respond to monitoring alerts and emergency outages in line with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Document IT processes and procedures.
Job Requirements
Desired Qualifications & Experience
- MCSE (Advantageous)
- MCP / MCTS (Advantageous)
- Azure Cloud Certification
- 1-2 years relevant experience with server hardware and virtualization.
- 3 years experience interacting with end users at all levels.
- 3+ years in a corporate datacentre environment.
Skills and Experience
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking and VLANs.
- Experience with performance and service availability monitoring.
- Knowledge of virtualization technology.
- Understanding of network infrastructure, HTTP, Apache, Tomcat, DNS, FTP, SSH.
- Microsoft SQL Server (Advantageous).
- Microsoft Server Administration (2016+).
- Proficiency with Windows 10 & 11 and Office products.
- Support experience with Windows servers (Server 2016+).
- Experience with Microsoft patch management systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Exposure to video conference technologies.
- Process-driven with knowledge of ITIL principles (advantageous).
- Ability to communicate complex technical information simply.
- Time and priority management skills.
