Job description

Our client, a leading Manufacturing / Production company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of Environmental Specialist.Purpose of the Role : Reporting to the Assistant SHE Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for managing and maintaining the environmental compliance of the plant.

The role requires extensive travel between our operations within KwaZulu Natal.Key Responsibilities : Maintain and update Environmental Management Programme Reports (EMPRs) to ensure compliance with the latest regulations.Ensure legal compliance and keep abreast of evolving environmental legislation and permitting requirements.Apply for and manage environmental permits and licenses in line with business and legislative needs.Maintain ISO systems and ensure continuous improvement in environmental management practices.Coordinate risk assessments and ensure the register remains up-to-date and relevant.Lead and support activities required by the EMPR, ensuring alignment with mining and environmental plans.Proactively prevent environmental complaints through compliance, stakeholder engagement, and effective communication.Monthly reporting to local authorities relevant to the operations requirements.Facilitate monitoring and sampling regimes across all operations.Qualifications and Experience : Grade 12 Senior CertificateMatricBSc in Environmental ScienceMinimum of 2 years industrial experience or employment in a government department or consultancy dealing with environmental mattersDriver's License with own reliable transportProven experience in EMPR compliance, permitting, and ISO maintenance.Strong knowledge of South African environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.If you are interested in applying for this role, please send a detailed copy of your CV to (Email Address Removed)If you have not been contacted within two weeks, please consider your application as unsuccessful.Desired Skills : Environmental ManagementDesired Work Experience : 2 to 5 years
