Job description

Requirements :
  • MBChB or a relevant qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Current annual registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Grade 1: No experience after registration. Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years appropriate experience. Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience. Additional qualifications such as ATLS, ACLS, PALS, Diploma in Anaesthesiology, and Primaries are advantageous.
Duties :
  • Provide efficient and effective clinical care within the tertiary hospital service package. Ensure high-quality healthcare delivery. Provide peri-operative anaesthesia care and improve theatre utilization while reducing cancellations. Support and supervise junior staff. Collaborate with all team members. Willingness to work longer hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure 24-hour clinical service. Promote multidisciplinary teamwork. Offer continuous training and education to interns and students. Assist in departmental cost-efficiency practices. Complete anaesthesia records and report adverse events to specialists. Prepare for DA exams by attending academic meetings internally and externally.

  • This position is a joint appointment between the Gauteng Department of Health and academic institutions such as the University of Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, and Sefako Makgatho University.
