About the job: Data Analyst (Healthcare Experience)

Key Purpose:

The role will oversee analytical teams across data analytics, data science, and clinical domains in South Africa, coordinating with technical heads based in Singapore. The objective is to ensure the timely, robust, and accurate delivery of analytical products and frameworks. Effective communication with key stakeholders is vital to ensure successful delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Mining large structured and unstructured datasets from various companies with different data structures.
2. Owning data structures and relevant business logic by setting standards and vision for normalized datasets.
3. Supporting the design of data systems to facilitate efficient, scalable, and reproducible data analytics.
4. Using data to uncover insights that inform healthcare strategies and product development across fields such as clinical, operations, fraud, digital, sales and marketing, wellness, etc.
5. Performing basic to advanced data analytics, both ad hoc and in production.
6. Presenting data and model findings in an actionable manner.
7. Engaging with stakeholders to understand data, systems, and analytical architecture within a healthcare context.
8. Improving processes and data outcomes whenever opportunities arise.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. A bachelor's degree in actuarial science, statistics, healthcare, or a related field.
2. Extensive experience in healthcare analytics.
3. Skills in SQL, Python, and advanced Excel.
4. Understanding of basic to advanced statistics, risk adjustment, and health outcome assessment frameworks.
5. Knowledge of data in various healthcare domains such as clinical, operations, fraud, digital, sales and marketing, wellness, etc.
6. Familiarity with databases, data governance, metadata standards, data architecture principles, and ETL/ELT processes.
7. Knowledge of healthcare technologies including patient health management, provider profiling, and healthcare reporting.
8. Understanding of clinical tools like coders, groupers, and classifications.
9. Knowledge of data science applications in healthcare.
10. Understanding of healthcare benefit pricing, product pricing, and actuarial calculations such as reserving and risk rating.
11. Experience with Microsoft Azure platforms like Databricks, Synapse, and Data Factory is preferred.
