A leading company in health research is seeking a Quality Officer to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves data quality audits, database management, and training site staff. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in STI/HIV research. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical health studies while working in a collaborative environment.
To ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data collected during clinical trials and to maintain high-quality data that meets regulatory, scientific, and ethical standards
Location : Wits RHI
Lejweleputswa (Free State)
Key performance areas :
Responsible for QC1, EDC review, QC2 and quality improvement
Ensure Data Accuracy & Consistency
Validate that all trial data is entered correctly and consistently across different sources, sites or systems
Check for discrepancies, missing data, or anomalies that could compromise the results
Ensure data handling aligns with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Prepare for audits and inspections by regulatory authorities
Database Management
Ensure proper database setup, maintenance, and documentation
Coordinate with data managers to validate database structures, test eCRFs (Electronic Case Report Forms), and manage version control to ensure accurate data capture throughout the study lifecycle
Implement Quality Control Processes
Design and execute data quality audits and verification procedures
Oversee regular data reviews and query management
Collaborate with study staff, support staff and investigators to resolve data issues
Help in database lock procedures by confirming data is clean and complete
Train site staff and team members on data collection protocols and quality standards
Ensure consistent data entry practices and documentation
Identify risks in data collection or management processes
Suggest improvements to reduce the likelihood of errors or data loss
Reporting
Required minimum education and training :
Degree / Diploma in a health-related field
Required minimum work experience :
Minimum 1 year experience in STI / HIV research environment
Extensive knowledge on data quality control
Extensive understanding of the research language, detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant studies and SOPs, knowledge of clinical research documentation
Computer literate with ability to create or work with databases
Good written and verbal communication skills
Strategic thinking and critical thinking skills
Conscientious and precise delivery of work even when under pressure
Effective self-management, resourcefulness, and initiative to solve problems Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities :
A Post Graduate Degree would be an added advantage
3-5 years developing, implementing, and managing data quality management systems
Data cleaning and preparation
Data analysis and exploration
Advanced Excel
Statistical knowledge
