A multinational conglomerate seeks to employ an experienced and technically strong Group Accountant to join their dynamic finance team, based in Cape Town CBD.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of the Finance Shared Service Centre and will be responsible for Group Technical Accounting, including maintenance of policies.

Additional responsibilities include involvement in ad-hoc group and key projects, supporting the design and implementation of new systems, and applying technical accounting skills to analyze contracts and key transactions. Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Accounting analyses for complex contracts and transactions
2. Maintain Group Technical Accounting Policies, support dissemination and implementation, and act as a central point of contact for technical accounting advice
3. Maintain Financial Control Policies, support dissemination and implementation, and assist in applying control policies and best practices
4. Deliver technical training
5. Participate in key reporting cycles for month-end and other Group Finance initiatives
6. Support group year-end audit process, including preparation of notes for consolidated financial statements
7. Regular review of balance sheet reconciliations across global entities and support ongoing enhancements of control processes
8. Contribute to other key finance initiatives as required

Education Requirements

Qualified Accounting Professional - ACCA / ACA / CA(SA)

Job Requirements and Skills

• Completed articles
• 4 to 5 years' post-articles experience in a group technical role is essential
• Shared Services Centre experience is essential
• Strong knowledge of complex multi-currency consolidations
• Technically proficient with FRS
• Experience with financial consolidation systems
• Experience using financial statement preparation software
• Proficient in MS Office packages
• Strong analytical skills
• Deadline-driven and able to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
• Team player
