Job Purpose

To partner with operational heads to ensure that financial information is reported in line with IFRS standards, company policy, and business requirements. Provide commercial and financial oversight in supporting operational heads, while monitoring performance against approved budgets. Maintain effective communication channels between finance and business.

Responsibilities

  1. Financial Management & Control
  2. Track progress against budgets within established finance systems and report variances to senior colleagues.
  3. Operate within established systems to deliver outcomes for designated areas of financial control, monitor and control expenditure, and interpret unusual figures identified through analytical review.
  4. Prepare budgets and forecasts in collaboration with senior managers.
  5. Data Collection & Analysis
  6. Identify anomalies, investigate with financial accountants to ensure data completeness and accuracy, and analyze financial data to interpret past performance and forecast future results.
  7. Cost Accounting
  8. Evaluate costs, identify variances, and explore opportunities to improve profitability. Perform ratio analysis and interpret variances such as surplus ratio, claims ratio, and expenses ratio.
  9. Budgeting & Costing
  10. Track budgets, report variances, and prepare budgets for organizational areas. Manage budget systems, liaise with stakeholders for accuracy, and assist with budget template population.
  11. Operational Compliance
  12. Adhere to mandatory procedures to meet quality standards and comply with regulatory and internal codes.
  13. Insights and Reporting
  14. Prepare and coordinate various financial reports.
  15. Personal Capability Building
  16. Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

Education

Bachelor of Commerce: Finance (Required)

Experience

Minimum 2 years' Financial Management Accounting experience
2 years' Financial Services background (Advantageous)
