Job description

JOB TITLE : Project Manager

DEPARTMENT : PROJECT

REPORTING TO : Project Management Office Manager

LOCATION : Johannesburg

Purpose of Position

GVR is a market leader in the downstream petroleum segment, playing a major role in the value chain of Fuel Management Solutions, including fuel dispensers, mobile Bowsers, Fuel station automation, Automatic Level and flow meters, and more.

Our operations span across all MEA with a project and service network. We are managing multi-geography rollouts of these projects and seek highly experienced project managers, especially those familiar with the mining sector. This position is responsible for end-to-end and on-time delivery of large-scale fuel management system projects, covering design, requirements, contract development, estimating, engineering, verification, system integration, installation, and deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project planning and coordination with customers and internal teams on a weekly basis.
  2. Assemble and manage project teams of internal and external professionals.
  3. Monitor and review workload and use Visual Project Management techniques daily.
  4. Manage daily operations, monitor milestones, and report progress.
  5. Implement risk management strategies and issue tracking.
  6. Create and evaluate project reports and provide status updates.
  7. Coordinate with Global Product Management & Engineering for project scope signoff.
  8. Develop comprehensive project plans and detailed weekly action plans.
  9. Complete technical integration evaluations and define specifications.
  10. Act as the technical interface with customers.
  11. Oversee the entire project lifecycle from initiation to rollout.
  12. Manage project budgets, P&L, and change requests.
  13. Ensure resource requirements are met and track project activities from planning to invoicing.
  14. Develop cost targets aligned with business plans.
  15. Negotiate change proposals and monitor project performance indicators.
  16. Evaluate project outcomes and suggest remedial actions.
  17. Manage project expenditure and prepare financial reports.
  18. Conduct product validation trials in the field.
  19. Ensure activities from project initiation to launch are completed successfully.
Delegation of Authority

As per Board-approved PMO guidelines and as delegated by the Managing Director.

Position Relationships

Internal: Field teams, logistics, supply chain, AR team.

External: Cross-functional teams of Product Platforms.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in IT, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical.
  • PMP or equivalent certification.
  • 5-10 years experience in project management, advisory, or engineering supervisory roles.

  • Experience in mining, industrial, petroleum downstream, and process automation sectors.
