Job summary

A JSE listed organization is seeking a highly proficient Branch Accountant CA(SA) to join their team in Illovo. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Sage/Accpac experience, and advanced Excel skills, with responsibilities including preparing monthly management accounts and participating in audits.

Job description

Reference : NCM-KMa-1A JSE listed organisation requires the skills of a highly proficient Branch Accountant CA(SA) to be based in Illovo to process the records of account and prepare the monthly management accounts.

We require an innovative Degreed candidate with exceptional focus and drive to join our team with Sage / Accpac experience and advanced Excel capabilities.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the on-time submission of monthly management accounts in accordance with the financial reporting calendar.
  2. Analyse management accounts with explanations of all variances to branch budgets.
  3. Ensure all ledger accounts are properly analysed and supported by verifiable reconciliations and/or other schedules.
  4. Process sundry invoices related to services and recoveries not processed through payroll, including inter-branch and inter-company recoveries.
  5. Prepare journals with relevant supporting schedules and reasons.
  6. Ensure correct allocation of transactions in the general ledger, including correct ledger account number and branch.
  7. Raise accruals and provisions as required.
  8. Maintain the fixed asset register on Sage.
  9. Review trade creditor reconciliations for relevant branches.
  10. Contribute to annual budgets and reforecasts.
  11. Prepare VAT reconciliations.
  12. Provide relevant information to branch managers.
  13. Prepare reports for management and B-BBEE scorecard submissions.
  14. Ensure inter-company accounts are balanced.
  15. Participate in internal audits and verification processes.
  16. Prepare for annual audits, including audit packs and analytical reviews.
  17. Support auditors with documentation.
  18. Manage record administration, ensuring proper filing and retention.
  19. Ensure system data accuracy, such as payroll interface with Sage.
Qualifications & Experience
  1. Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance / Accounting.
  2. At least 3 years of relevant financial reporting experience.
  3. At least 3 years of articles experience at an audit firm.
  4. 4 years of relevant accounting experience in management accounts preparation.
  5. Proficiency in MS Excel (non-negotiable).
  6. Sage / Accpac experience.
  7. Ability to work after hours when required to meet deadlines.
