SUMMARY :

Responsible for managing the Operations Team in Johannesburg.

POSITION INFO :

One of our clients in the Freight Forwarding industry has a vacancy available for an Operations Manager to join their dynamic team.

As the Operations Manager, you are personally responsible for managing the Operations Team in Johannesburg, which consists of operational staff, invoicing staff, and customs clearance staff.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Manage day-to-day operational, forwarding, and customs clearing activities in Johannesburg.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve operational processes and guidelines to enable growth.
  • Monitor and optimize resource utilization and performance.
  • Establish and uphold best practices with quality controls.
  • Support internal teams such as sales, service, and management.
  • Create an environment of innovation through motivation, training, support, and team building.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Generate weekly and monthly reports and participate in management meetings.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders including government departments, carriers, transporters, depots, handling agents, and associations like SAAFF.
Additional Responsibilities :
  • Risk management, crisis management, and project management.
  • Maximize customer satisfaction through cooperation and quality service.
  • Support team members during absences or as required.
  • Assist in procuring and acquiring new suppliers with approval.
  • Contribute to business growth and development.
  • Perform other lawful instructions issued by management.
Requirements :
  • Conversational English skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Good documentation and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms.
  • Strong managerial skills.
