Job Title: Senior Accountant
A well-established company in the earthmoving and mining industry is currently recruiting for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions in Isando, Kempton Park.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Masters or MBA preferred).
- CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Acumatica, QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft), with experience in Acumatica being a significant advantage.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of tax reporting and compliance.
- Understanding of international finance and multi-currency environments (for global firms).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with inventory, job costing, and project-based accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger operations.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Develop, manage, and oversee the company’s financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes.
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Support strategic initiatives and business planning through financial modeling and analysis.
- Assist in preparing financial statements in compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Manage internal controls, financial audits, and risk assessments.
- Support audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Manage internal controls, policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to finance/accounting staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational and financial goals.
