Job description

An exciting opportunity exists at Nampak Metals-Springs for a Quality Assurance Technologist (QAT).

This position reports directly to the Head of Quality Assurance and is graded at Peromnes 08.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure successful statistical control of processes during production in the Ends Plant.
  2. Evaluate statistical results and monitor CpK values for the plant.
  3. Generate accurate and timely weekly and monthly reports.
  4. Ensure divisional standards and processes are in place for the calibration, verification, and maintenance of key equipment in the plant.
  5. Ensure compliance with ISO and FSSC systems on site.
  6. Participate in the preparation of third-party quality and food safety audits.
  7. Ensure food safety verification requirements are met at all times.
  8. Liaise with customers regarding complaints and provide feedback on resolutions.
  9. Act as Plant Quality & Food Safety Pillar Champion.
  10. Ensure compliance with the Q-Pulse system and divisional procedures.
  11. Provide training on Quality, Food Safety, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) as required.
  12. Ensure compliance with all relevant ISO, business, and customer standards across the plant.
  13. Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
  14. Work with Engineering and production to ensure CQ's are run on nominal.
  15. Ensure the correct isolation process is followed in out-of-control situations as per plant procedure.
  16. Apply problem-solving techniques for customer complaints and quality alerts.
  17. Ensure compliance and adherence to specifications on Datalyser.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Holds a relevant degree or BTech in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related Quality Management qualification.
  • Has a Statistical Process Control qualification.
  • Possesses 5 years' experience in a quality function within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in statistical process control and related software.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality and food safety systems and their implementation.
  • Demonstrates confidence, good communication skills, and a sense of urgency.
  • Solid computer literacy and skills.
